>Delightful neighborhood, comfortable apartment

>When we couldn’t find anything we could afford in the 4th adn 5th arrondissements, we checked out the 14th and discovered the relatively peaceful neighborhood by the Pernety Metro stop.

Even though you sense a calm atmosphere when you emerge from the Metro, the neighborhood has dozens of cafes, inexpensive restaurants, take-out traitteurs, fromageries, boulangeries, boucheries, etc. The charm of old Paris in this neighborhood outweighs the occasional modern building mixed in. The apartment is small, but its high ceilings and tall windows give it a light and airy feeling. The photos on the website do not do justice to the apartment’s overall attractiveness. Someone has carefully thought about what a temporary resident might need and provided amenities like flashlights, sewing kit, extra towels, electric adapters, and shopping bags for the nearby supermarket. A laundromat is next door. The owner provides detailed written instructions and suggestions which are very helpful. The apartment looks over a courtyard with beautiful trees and is absolutely quiet. Unfortunately, you can hear the neighbors next door through the walls, but we mitigated this by closing the bathroom door, and since these elderly neighbors keep very reasonable hours they never bothered our sleep. Historic Rentals, which manages the apartment, did everything right and in an organized fashion. Madame Gelacio, the English-speaking housekeeper, came right over when we had to call her about a (self-inflicted) problem. All in all, we highly recommend this apartment and its neighborhood.
